Directions to Our Practice

If you've never been to our practice before, here are two routes you could take, using Singleton Park as a starting point.

Take Singleton Station Rd down to highway 129, then turn right. Exit onto Hall Rd and continue southwest. Turn right onto Lindsay St, then left onto Rankin Rd and right onto Sanderson St. Our building is the first one on the right after you cross Ave B, at 310 Sanderson St.
If you miss the exit onto Hall Rd, that's okay! Get off on the next exit instead, onto Calderwood St heading southwest. Turn left onto Sanderson St, then watch for us coming up on your left before the Ave B intersection.

How Much Local History Do You Know?

Alcoa, TN has a rich history rooted in its early days as a company town, closely linked to the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA). The company was drawn to the area in 1910 by the hydroelectric potential of the Little Tennessee River, essential for its aluminum smelting operations requiring extensive electricity.

Alcoa was established around what was initially called Calderwood, later becoming North Maryville where ALCOA set its base due to strategic considerations and local political support. By 1914, the company had purchased land and began constructing a smelting plant and housing for its employees, creating a well-planned community that included segregated areas and comprehensive urban planning to accommodate the burgeoning industry's needs.

The town's growth accelerated with World War I, heightening the demand for aluminum, which led to rapid expansion of ALCOA's operations. By 1919, Alcoa was officially incorporated, marking its evolution from a company-run town to a more autonomous community, although still heavily reliant on ALCOA for economic stability.

This dependency was evident through the Great Depression and World War II, where ALCOA maintained production to prevent mass unemployment, despite fluctuating demand. Post-war, the town gradually reduced its reliance on ALCOA, diversifying its economy and updating its infrastructure, which included efforts to improve its public image and integrate community facilities, paving the way for Alcoa's modern economic landscape.
